Update: Unfortunately, Build A Rocket Boy's Leslie Benzies, who was scheduled to talk with us at our event on Monday, has cancelled due to a family emergency.
The full line-up for next week’s The Game Business Live has been set.
The event takes place on June 9 at The GRAMMY Museum in Los Angeles, and will feature four live tapings of The Game Business Show, plus a talk from Circana looking at the the economic situation in the US.
Speakers at this year’s event includes Dan Clancy [CEO, Twitch], Lisa Burgess [GM, Netflix], John Hight [President, Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming at Hasbro], Pete Wanat [President of Interactive Technology, AGBO] Mat Piscatella [Executive Director, Circana], Peiwen Yao [VP and Executive Director, Blizzard] and Shannon Williams [Senior Director of Mobile, Blizzard].
Tickets are free for The Game Business readers, while access is also available to Play Days industry ticket holders.
The event opens with a welcome from The Game Business founders Christopher Dring (hello!) and Geoff Keighley. And before we get into the main shows, we will have an opening talk from Mat Piscatella, the Executive Director at Circana. Piscatella will share data and insight into the larger macro trends impacting video games, in particular how higher pricing in everyday spending categories and tariffs might impact the dollars available for gaming. The session would focus on the US market but speak to global implications.
Our first Show of the event is a roundtable panel featuring three leaders from the wider world of entertainment. Lisa Burgess [GM, Netflix], John Hight [President, Wizards of the Coast and Digital Gaming at Hasbro] and Pete Wanat [President of Interactive Technology, AGBO] will discuss building universes that cross TV, film, board games and, of course, video games. They’ll share the successes they’ve seen so far, and discuss the opportunities that lie ahead for this exciting and fast-developing area of entertainment.
After a short break, we’ll move to our next show. Peiwen Yao, executive producer of Diablo Immortal, and Shannon Williams, senior director of mobile at Blizzard, will utilize their experience with Diablo Immortal to discuss the role that mobile can play in helping traditional AAA PC and console franchises reach global audiences. They will also discuss how they navigated Western mobile stigma vs Eastern enthusiasm, and what comes next for their game and mobile in general.
Our third show of the event will feature the Twitch CEO Daniel Clancy. Clancy will discuss the evolution of live-streaming, discuss the latest trends in the industry, and the role Twitch plays in an era where time is a premium.
All three shows will be available on TheGameBusiness.com, our YouTube channel, plus podcast platforms, including Apple and Spotify, in the days following the event.
